Not even close

All summer long we've been teased by the prospect of enjoying a P.J. Clarke's burger by the marina. The other night they left the blinds open a little so I was able to peek through and get a look at their progress.
...not even close.

Slow burn

Nice sunsets this week.

There was a sailboat silhouetted against the Jersey skyline.

There it is.
Jersey nautilus
Chambers Wines

Dead end

There's something disconcerting about looking down the street and expecting to see the river and instead you see what is essentially a floating apartment building driving by.

Next to the bus it almost looks like it's driving down West st.

More colorful trucks

Green Backhoe

Yes, I spent 7 bucks on cookies.

Nothing says progress like tables and chairs

They're still working on the inside of Merchants Cafe but I guess the patio furniture order came in. Looks good.

Pimp my cab

Chrome rims, sparkling curb feelers...

...and the topper.

Not pictured, leopard print steering wheel cover.
The funniest thing was that he was actually eating hot soup with a fare in the back. I caught him at a red light. 19th street I think.

Ladder 1

Lots of Firefighter events in the city today. I'll have a few more shots up tomorrow.

What's the deal with boxes around all the trees on Houston Street?

Rows and columns

The aforementioned scaffolding on the Post Office.

Just another day strolling through New York City

So I step out of the subway on my way to B&H (because eventually I'm going to buy a real camera, I swear it) and there's a cool bright yellow scaffolding in front of the Post Office. While looking for a good way to take a picture of it I notice a crowd, which of course I'm too nosey to ignore.

Oh, just the Dalai Lama and Mayor Bloomberg.

I love how in New York you can be checking out Reggae CDs at a street fair completely oblivious to the fact that the Dalai Lama is hanging out with the mayor 100 feet away.

The white scarf was apparently the point of the ceremony. I don't know what they were doing.

The ceremony ends and a little farther down the street Mr. Lama just comes strolling out onto the sidewalk. I run around for a better angle. All those damn body guards.

Slight camera malfunction so you'll have to take my word for what happened next. The Dalai Lama bought an ear of corn at the street fair and walked back in.

Corn guy is pretty dazzled.

Woo Hoo! I served corn to the Dalai Lama!!

Meanwhile... who's that guy buying flavored popcorn?

I was just complaining the other day that I never seen Bloomberg out on the street and the next thing you know I'm standing next to him.

Put your money away babe, I got this.

Gramercy faces

World's Smallest Woman

It's a West Indies Cultural Exhibit you know. Just 50 cents. You could see the people looking at the smallest woman and they didn't even look like they'd be ripped off.

Sausage guy

That's alotta sausage!

Brooklyn night

This is actually a picture of the woman looking down on the guys hanging out. Not sure how visible it is. It wasn't all that visible in real life either.

Here's a crop of a different but similar shot of the same lady.
