Blue door

Fruit baskets

St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, 12th Floor

Also known as the baby ward...

I love when it's night on the street, but still light in the sky.

Hell's Kitchen rooftops. I wonder what this will look like if the green roof movement catches on.

Liberty Park progress

They're making remarkable progress on the new Liberty Park. (Though I do wonder if the proximity of that sculpture -which I recognize from the loop at the end of the Holland Tunnel- to the cube will make the area look like the land of big red sculptures.)

Downtown Express reports that there are 54 honey locust trees to be planted December 1. Last I'd read, there was a lot of work to be done underground before they could do anything on the park's surface. I guess that work went quickly.

For comparison...

Repairing the matrix

A brief glimpse at repairs being made behind the curtain of reality.

Beekman St.? Maybe Peck Slip?

5 Beekman Street

These are a little old and I wasn't going to post them at all since they didn't come out very well, but since the folks at Curbed are talking about 5 Beekman here and here I thought I'd contribute what I have. The building shots are from March '05, the bottom one is August '05.

Madison Street

It was with great glee that I found out that there's no parking on one side of Madison Street. No cars marring the view.

Live Adventure

Under Manhattan Bridge

Chrystie Street Gallery

This is a new camera I've been using for the past week, and the fact that it's possible to stand at the bottom of a dark stairwell and take a shot free-hand and have the words on the door at the top still readable... that's about a close to a miracle as I've experienced in a while.

Head finds a home

Way back in March I took this photo of a gargoyle sitting on the floor of an antiques shop somewhere in the West 20's.

The other day I was blown away to see this on West Street.

The Pier 40 playing fields

I had read about them, but this was the first time I'd gone to take a look at the astroturf fields on Pier 40.

There's a surreal coliseum quality to it even though the upper deck spectators are just parked cars.
