This is on Manhattan Ave, taken with the point'n'shoot. The lesson here is that the camera has three different ways it can measure the light. Overall average, center weighted average or spot. Change your setting to spot and point it at the brightest light. Keep the button half pressed so the setting stays and then frame your shot. I still used a parking meter for help because the shutter is going to stay open for a while.
