I hope history notes the prevelence of motorcycles in our culture. In addition to the other riding clubs that I showed this weekend, on the afternoon of the 11th, the uptown racing bike crowd showed up. I saw patches for Harlem, Bronx, and Westchester. Even though they were a lot of small groups, they were very orderly, with the first to park jumping off their bikes to help direct the others as they pulled in. Unlike the other groups that make their own way to the fence, this group all called out to each other to go in a group to pay their respects.
Random groups like the above rode through the neighborhood all day, but the capper was a massive ride from upstate (I saw a lot of Woodstock HOG patches and some Millbrook patches) with bikes and bikers of all kinds. I even saw a more traditional "club" called the Axemen from Michigan riding with them. As endless as these photos seem, that's how endless this group was. Easily 5000 or more.
You'll recognize this as the corner of Chambers street. The parked bikes stretched from here all the way down Church Street...
...and that's not counting the ones that just kept going.
Plus down along the post office...
As they passed the crowd in front of O'Hara's you can see some of the firemen holding out their hands to high five the bikers as they passed.
