I could not be more pissed that this didn't come out. I'm putting it up anyway just to spite my camera and the photo gods. Under the FDR, that's the fish market back there.
In the top one I thought the woman at the bottom looked like the figure perched on the ledge at the top. In the bottom one, obviously, the sitting fellow looked like the sitting figure on the wall. In both cases their postures would probabaly have to be a little more exact for this to be as clever as I thought it was when I took the pictures.
Just yards from the bride, two guys were fighting literally in the middle of Broadway. One guy was swinging his bag to defend himself against the other who was throwing keys and gesturingly dangerously at his belt-line. Then a cop showed up with gun drawn, barking orders. Turns out the guy in the black shirt had a box cutter in his hand, ready to cut up the guy in the white shirt. Pretty dramatic. Cuff 'im and stuff 'im.
About this one below, when I was playing with the cropping I thought it was interesting how the water tower and the car kind of address each other. I keep waiting for the water tower to jump off the building and crush the car.
The space now has a name, and that big thing in front looks like a refrigeration unit of some kind. I hope by "cafe" they just mean a small bar with outdoor seating and not "cafe" in the expensive-sandwiches-and-sodas-for-lunch-breaking-workers way.
This was meant to be of the lady leaning against the bus shelter. She had an exhausted iPod zone out end of the day look. The photo ended up being something else I think. (23rd Street)
What a really great, friendly, creative, passionate community. Though it could have been much more, I'm glad they endured the struggle to make it happen. I'm a little low on energy, so I'm just going to post everything. Book signing. Sort of like trading autographs, but not exactly. Lady Pink, celebrity.
She's all tagged. I don't know what the deal is with that. There were a couple people done up like that. Some "real art" peeking over the top. Nice crowd. This was around 5:30 or 6.
