When you stand in front of a sculpture like this (which is rare to do because in most parts of the city the nose would be stolen and the fingers broken off, or else it would be eaten by air polution or way way way up on a building somewhere) it's amazing how much power can be felt from them. I don't really know anything about what these represent, but they feel meaningful just to look at them.
The books are my favorite part.
Are they making things like this anymore? Do people who know about architecutre think this is ugly?
no, this isn't ugly architecture, but I doubt if they still build this. If you come to europe, you'll see tons of buildings in this style.
