My favorite thing about the
hipsterfication of the meatpacking district is that they still process meat there, so it still smells like the meatpacking district. Even though a number of the meat distributors have left, the sidewalks are slippery and greasy with animal fluids. A couple weeks ago I was walking through there in the day time and just a few doors down from Pastise was a clear garbage bag that looked like it was full of lard and it had ruptured and was oozing across the sidewalk in the bright midday sun. bleh.
